EXAMPLE 48 5-Carboxy-2-[{4-(2-benzyloxy)ethoxy-3-methylpyridine-2-yl}methylthio]-1H-benzimidazole STR110 A mixture comprising 1.26 g of 5-carboxy-2-mercaptobenzimidazole, 1.8 g of 4-(2-benzyloxyethoxy)-2-chloromethyl-3-methylpyridine, 0.57 g of sodium hydroxide and 150 ml of methanol was stirred at 50 C. for 1.5 hours and distilled under a reduced pressure to remove the methanol.
