The residue and dissipation dynamics of cyazofamid and its main metabolite 4-chloro-5-p-tolylimidazole-2-carbonitrile (CCIM) in garlic, garlic bolt and garlic sprouts were investigated by QuEChERS high-performance liquid chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry method. Field experiments were conducted in 6 sites for one year. The dietary intake risk of cyazofamid was assessed. At different levels, the results showed that the average recoveries of cyazofamid were 89.8%-1005% in garlic, 84.6%-109.4% in garlic bolt and 88.6%-108.5% in garlic sprout, recoveries of CCIM were 84.6%-104.2% in garlic, 84.6%-108.9% in garlic bolt and 85.3%-109.2% in garlic sprout, resp., with relative standard deviation less than 10.1%. The limits of quantitation were all 0.01 mg/kg. The dissipation dynamics of cyazofamid and CCIM in garlic plant matrixes fitted the first order kinetic equation, and the half-lives were 3.5-6.1 d and 0.9-3.9 d, resp. The dietary intake risk assessment showed that the dietary exposure risk index of cyazofamid in garlic, garlic bolt and garlic sprout were less than 100%, which indicated that the dietary exposure risk was at an acceptable level.

Grapes are among the most popular fruits globally, and various fungicides are widely applied to grape crops. As such, the presence of multiple fungicide residues and dietary risks in grapes has become the focus of significant attention. In this study, an easy-to-implement and sensitive UPLC-MS/MS approach was developed to simultaneously determine pyraclostrobin, dimethomorph, cymoxanil, cyazofamid and its metabolite CCIM in grapes via QuEChERS. This approach achieved 78.1-106.0% recovery and a 0.01 mg kg-1 limit of quantitation (LOQ). Field trials revealed that these compounds had degradation half-lives ranging from 0.9 to 14.4 days. And their terminal residues ranging from < LOQ to 0.94 mg kg-1 were below the official maximum residue limit (MRL) in China. The short-term risk for each tested fungicide was below 54%. The long-term risk of individual chems. ranged from 0.0086% to 2%, and their cumulative risk was 3.3%. Results indicated that the dietary risk of these fungicides in grapes was minor.

In several studies focused on the residues of cyazofamid and its main metabolite 4-chloro-5-p-tolylimidazole-2-carbonitrile (CCIM) on tomato where it is widely used, CCIM has been shown to have higher acute toxicity than cyazofamid, and this is crucial to evaluate the potential food risk of cyazofamid and CCIM. In this study, the dissipation of cyazofamid and CCIM during tomato growth and tomato paste making process were assessed. The targeted compounds cyazofamid and CCIM were determined by LC-MS/MS. The results indicated that the half-life of cyazofamid was 4.6 days after applying in the field, and the maximum value of CCIM was 0.08 mg/kg at 3 days after the last application of cyazofamid, then gradually decreased. In addition, the concentrations of cyazofamid and CCIM were affected by different processing steps including washing, peeling, homogenisation, simmering, and sterilisation. Results showed that the mean losses of cyazofamid and CCIM were 92.3% and 75.2% after washing and peeling. The Processing Factor (PF) values were all less than 1. Especially for peeling, the PFs of cyazofamid and CCIM were 0.12 and 0.04, resp.

The residual characteristics and risk assessment with respect to cyazofamid and its metabolite 4-chloro-5-p-tolylimidazole-2-carbonitrile were monitored in case of Korean cabbage at different preharvest intervals during a greenhouse trial. The 0.02 kg a.i/ha of cyazofamid was sprayed twice on seven-day intervals (i.e., on day 0, 7, 14, and 21 before harvest). The liquid chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry anal. was used to monitor the residual amount of fungicide. The matrix-matched calibration curves with respect to the cyazofamid in Korean cabbage exhibited good linearity (R2 �0.999) and acceptable recoveries of 84.1%-114.9%. The biol. half-life of cyazofamid in Korean cabbage was 3.18 days. During the treatment, the preharvest residue of cyazofamid in Korean cabbage 14 days before harvest (0.80 mg/kg) was lower than that specified by the MFDS-MRL (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety-Maximum Residue Limit, 2.0 mg/kg) and should be recommended as the safe preharvest-interval application limit. The hazard quotient showed low toxicity (70.58%) during the risk assessment study of cyazofamid.
