Reaction of the amino alcs. H2N(CH2)nOH (n = 2,3) and HN(CH2CH2OH)2 with the chloropyrimidines I (R = H, Me) and 4,6-dichloropyrimidine nII) gave the 4-substituted derivatives which, when treated with SOCl2 in THF, cyclized to give III, IV (R1 = H, Cl), V (R2 = H, Me, Cl; R3 = H, CH2CH2Cl), and VI.
