General procedure: A dry 50 mL flask was charged with 2-halogenated aromatic aldehyde 1 (1.0 mmol), 1H-benzo[d]imidazol-5-amine (0.133 g,1.0 mmol), cyclohexane-1,3-diones (1.0 mmol), CuI (10 mg), L-proline(6 mg), Cs2CO3 (650 mg) and dioxane (10 mL).
