Chen, Jiguang;Sun, Dandan;Xu, Shaomin;Fu, Yongming;Yang, Yukun;Ma, Jie research published 《 A Microfiber Sensor for the Trace Copper Ions Detection Based on Ternary Sensitive film》, the research content is summarized as follows. An optic-fiber sensor for detecting the concentration of trace copper ions is proposed using a ternary cross-linked sensitive film coated on the Mach-Zehnder microfiber interferometer surface. The microfiber has a huge evanescent field offering high sensitivity to the ambient refractive index. The chelation between imidazole groups in the coated thin film and copper ions changes the refractive index of the sensor surface, which is converted into macroscopic wavelength drift in the interference spectrum. The sensitivity of the sensor is up to 7.715 x 106 nm M-1 with the detection limit of 0.0576 ppm. This sensor can effectively avoid the effect of temperature cross-response and has good specificity and stability. This study has instructive meanings for designing optical pollutant sensors with high stability and improved detection accuracy in a potentially multi-characteristic environment.

Chen, Hung-Ying;Chang, Chih-Wei research published 《 Solvatochromism Study of DCM Encapsulated in ZIF-90 and the Potential Application of DCM/ZIF-90 as the Fluorescence Down-Conversion Layer for an LED Chip》, the research content is summarized as follows. In this study, we have employed the laser dye, 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM), to probe the microenvironment in ZIF-90 cavities. The steady-state and time-resolved studies suggested that the ZIF-90 provides a highly restricted but solvent-accessible environment for the encapsulated mols. Because ZIF-90 can effectively prevent the aggregation quenching of the DCM in solid state, we have employed the DCM/ZIF-90 composite material as the fluorescence down-conversion layer for the blue light-emitting diode chips. The device provides stable white light illumination with the CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinate at (0.404, 0.355). When we mixed the DCM/ZIF-90 with Ag+ ion, the Ag+ ion was reduced and formed Ag nanoparticles on the DCM/ZIF-90 surface. Our study shows that the decoration of Ag nanoparticles on the ZIF-90 surface could ultimately change the spectroscopic properties of the DCM encapsulated in ZIF-90, and this unique phenomenon can be used to tune the optical properties of the dye mols. encapsulated in the ZIF-90.

Methimazole is a commonly used drugs for treatment of hyperthyroidism. Researching the solubility property of methimazole in multifarious solvent systems can be used for optimizing the purification process of methimazole in industry. In this study, the solubility properties of methimazole in twelve pure solvents (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, isopropanol, 1-butanol, isobutanol, 1,4-dioxane, Me acetate, acetonitrile, Et acetate, THF, acetone) and four binary mixed solvents (methanol + Et acetate, methanol + acetonitrile, methanol + isopropanol, methanol + Me acetate) were tested within 278.15 K to 323.15 K under 101.325 kPa. The results show that methimazole has the highest solubility in methanol and the smallest solubility in Et acetate. In addition, solubility is pos. correlated with temperature in pure solvents and mixed solvents. The XRD spectrum results show that the crystal form of methimazole before and after dissolving in twelve pure solvents do not change. The DSC test shows that the m.p. of methimazole is 417.27 K, and it is also proved that methimazole do not decompose before reaching the m.p. Herein, the Modified Apelblat model and Buchowski-Ksiazaczak λh model were used to fit the solubility data of methimazole in pure solvents. Jouyban-Acree model, CNIBS/R-K model and SUN model were used to fit the solubility data of methimazole in binary mixed solvents. The results show that Modified Apelblat model and CNIBS/R-K model have the best correlation with the solubility of methimazole. Anal. using the KAT-LSER model reveals that the influence of the interaction between part of the solvent and solute mol. on solubility The results show that the impact of dipolarity/polarizability is dominant.

Chang, Jiafu;Lv, Wenxin;Li, Qian;Li, Haiyin;Li, Feng research published 《 One-Step Synthesis of Methylene Blue-Encapsulated Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework for Dual-Signal Fluorescent and Homogeneous Electrochemical Biosensing》, the research content is summarized as follows. In vitro diagnosis requires target biomarkers to be reliably detected at an ultralow level. A dual-signal strategy permits self-calibration to overcome the interferences of exptl. and environmental factors, and thus is regarded as a promising approach. However, currently reported works mainly concentrated on the same forms of energy of output signals. Herein, the authors propose a one-step strategy for synthesis of methylene blue-encapsulated zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (MB@ZIF-90) with high loading, unique dual-signal property, exceptional recognition capability, and good stability, and the authors further pioneer MB@ZIF-90 as a dual-signal biosensor for label-free, enzyme-free, and ultrasensitive detection of ATP by integration of fluorescence and homogeneous electrochem. techniques. The recognition of MB@ZIF-90 by target ATP spurs the decomposition of ZIF-90, subsequently permitting MB to be released into a supernatant. As compared to the case where ATP does not exist, obviously increased intensities in fluorescence and differential pulse voltammetry current are observed and both signals are directly proportional to ATP concentrations Thus, the MB@ZIF-90-based biosensor achieved dual-signal detection of ATP in an ultrasensitive manner and displayed a more reliable diagnosis result than previously reported ATP biosensors. This dual-signal strategy provides a new opportunity to develop high-performance biosensors for in vitro diagnosis and demonstrates great potential for future applications in bioinformatics and clin. medicine.

Chan, Yuk-Cheung;Sak, Marcus H.;Frank, Scott A.;Miller, Scott J. research published 《 Tunable and Cooperative Catalysis for Enantioselective Pictet-Spengler Reaction with Varied Nitrogen-Containing Heterocyclic Carboxaldehydes》, the research content is summarized as follows. Herein an organocatalytic enantioselective functionalization of heterocyclic carboxaldehydes RCHO (R = Ph, pyridin-3-yl, 1H-imidazol-2-yl, etc.) via the Pictet-Spengler reaction was reported. Through careful pairing of novel squaramide and Bronsted acid catalysts, this method tolerates a breadth of heterocycles, enabling preparation of a series of heterocycle conjugated β-(tetrahydro)carbolines I (R1 = Bn, 3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl, 2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl, etc.) in good yield and enantioselectivity. Careful selection of carboxylic acid co-catalyst is essential for toleration of a variety of regioisomeric heterocycles I. Utility is demonstrated via the three-step stereoselective preparation of pyridine-containing analogs I (R = 5-chloropyridin-2-yl; R1 = 3-ethoxy-3-oxopropyl, 2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl, 2-carboxyethyl, carboxymethyl) of potent selective estrogen receptor downregulator and U.S. FDA approved drug Tadalafil.

Chai, Yong-Mei;Zhang, Hong-Bin;Zhang, Xiao-Yi;Chai, Lan-Qin research published 《 X-ray structures, spectroscopic, antimicrobial activity, ESP/HSA and TD/DFT calculations of Bi(III) complex containing imidazole ring》, the research content is summarized as follows. A novel complex [Bi(L)2(NO3)3] (L = 2-(4-imidazolyl)-4-methyl-1,2-dihydroquinazoline-N3-oxide) was synthesized via complexation of the quinazoline ligand L with Bi(III) nitrate pentahydrate in methanol and Et acetate. The structure of complex was determined by elemental anal., FT-IR, UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, as well as characterized by X-ray crystallog. Crystallog. anal. divulged that the central atom Bi(III) was coordinated with eight atoms and the ratio of ligand-to-metal was 2:1. Specially, it fostered into an infinite 1-D chain, 2-D layered and ladder-like 3-D supramol. skeleton through different intermol. interactions. In addition, the fluorescence behaviors of Bi(III) complex in six solvents of diverse polarities were quite different. The DFT/B3LYP theor. level has been successfully applied to calculate the optimized geometry, electronic distribution of HOMO-LUMO and the electrostatic potential diagram of Bi(III) complex. Meanwhile, the electronic transitions recorded by TD/DFT calculation theor. rationalized the UV-vis spectrum data. The antibacterial activity of Bi(III) complex against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were further studied. Plausible non-covalent interactions were quantified using Hirshfeld surfaces and 2D fingerprint plots.

COA of Formula: C4H6N2S, Methimazole is an antithyroid compound found to have antioxidant properties. Methimazole inhibits activation of the IFN-g-induced Janus kinase (JAK)/STAT signaling pathway in FRTL-5 thyroid cells, which may account for its immunodolulatory effects. Additionally, methimazole is an inhibitor of thyroperoxidase.

Methimazole is a thiourea antithyroid agent that prevents iodine organification, thus inhibiting the synthesis of thyroxine. Antihyperthyroid.

Methimazole is an inhibitor of thyroid hormone synthesis. It is a substrate for thyroid peroxidase that traps oxidized iodide, preventing its use by thyroglobulin for thyroid hormone synthesis. Methimazole (0.4 mg/kg) inhibits the absorption of radiolabeled iodide by the thyroid gland in rats by 80.9%.3 It reduces the incidence of lymphocytic thyroiditis in the insulin-dependent type 1 diabetic BB/W rat. Methimazole has been used to induce hypothyroidism in mice. Formulations containing methimazole have been used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.

Methimazole is a thyreostatic compound, and an antihormone, which is widely used in medicine for the treatment of hyperthyroidism.

Methimazole is a thioamide inhibitor of the enzyme thyroid peroxidase (TPO), with antithyroid activity. Upon administration, methimazole inhibits the metabolism of iodide and the iodination of tyrosine residues in the thyroid hormone precursor thyroglobulin by TPO; this prevents the synthesis of the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).

Methimazole is an antithyroid medication which is now considered the first line agent for medical therapy of hyperthyroidism and Graves disease. Methimazole has been linked to serum aminotransferase elevations during therapy as well as to a clinically apparent, idiosyncratic liver injury that is typically cholestatic and self-limited in course.
Methimazole, also known as tapazole or danantizol, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as imidazolethiones. These are aromatic compounds containing an imidazole ring which bears a thioketone group. Methimazole is a drug which is used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism, goiter, graves disease and psoriasis. Methimazole is soluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). K. research published 《 Chlamydia pneumoniae can infect the central nervous system via the olfactory and trigeminal nerves and contributes to Alzheimer’s disease risk》, the research content is summarized as follows. Abstract: Chlamydia pneumoniae is a respiratory tract pathogen but can also infect the central nervous system (CNS). Recently, the link between C. pneumoniae CNS infection and late-onset dementia has become increasingly evident. In mice, CNS infection has been shown to occur weeks to months after intranasal inoculation. By isolating live C. pneumoniae from tissues and using immunohistochem., we show that C. pneumoniae can infect the olfactory and trigeminal nerves, olfactory bulb and brain within 72 h in mice. C. pneumoniae infection also resulted in dysregulation of key pathways involved in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis at 7 and 28 days after inoculation. Interestingly, amyloid beta accumulations were also detected adjacent to the C. pneumoniae inclusions in the olfactory system. Furthermore, injury to the nasal epithelium resulted in increased peripheral nerve and olfactory bulb infection, but did not alter general CNS infection. In vitro, C. pneumoniae was able to infect peripheral nerve and CNS glia. In summary, the nerves extending between the nasal cavity and the brain constitute invasion paths by which C. pneumoniae can rapidly invade the CNS likely by surviving in glia and leading to Aβ deposition.
