The reaction is permitted to warm to room temperature and allowed to stir 18 hours. The reaction is then adsorbed directly onto silica gel and submitted to silica gel flash chromatography (diethylamine-methanol- dichloromethane, 1 :3:96) to provide 3-{[(2-bomo-benzyl)-methyl-carbamoyl]-methyl}-3H- imidazole-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester; MS: (ESI) m/z 366.2, 368.2 (M+H)+.
