Oxalyl chloride (1.1 equiv, 1.1 mL) and 1-methyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylic acid 10bb-1 (0.2 g, 1.6 mmol) are added to dry acetonitrile (2.6 mL) in a flame-dried flask under nitrogen atmosphere. N,N-dimethylformamide (2 drops) is added to the mixture. The reaction stirred at room temperature for 4 h.
