Second fraction: ethyl 2-bromo-1,5-dimethyl-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate (0.30 g, 32percent); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) delta 4.35 (q, J=7.1 Hz, 2H), 3.54 (s, 3H), 2.56 (s, 3H), 1.38 (t, J=7.1 Hz, 3H); MS (ES+) m/z 247.1 (M+1).
